Minimalist design for a Mill Valley kitchen

This kitchen was taken from outdated to modern with a minimalist approach to both the design and the budget.  By keeping the layout functionally the same and the appliances in their existing locations, we were able to allot more of the budget to the custom-designed cabinets.  A back-painted glass backsplash reinforces the clean, uncluttered effect, as do the integrated cabinets handles.  Hiding the laundry behind floor-to-ceiling doors mounted on a heavy-duty track also kept the appliances where they were but moved them out of sight.  The finishing touches of a calligraphy scroll and a vase made by a local Japanese pottery studio complete the room.
